Susan B. Anthony's Petition to Congress (January 12, 1874)

Details

Anthony submitted a petition to the U. S. Congress on January 12, 1874, concerning her 1873 conviction for illegal voting in the 1872 federal election. Anthony's petition asked "that the fine imposed upon your petitioner be remitted, as an expression of the sense of this high tribunal that her conviction was unjust."
